World Military Spending: Trends and Implications

On the occasion of Stockholm International Peace Research Institute‘s launch of its new data on world military expenditures, experts will discuss their trends and implications. IPS research fellow and Director of the Peace Economy Transitions project, Miriam Pemberton, will speak at this event co-hosted by SIPRI and the United Nations Office for Disarmament Affairs. Pemberton will present on military spending: where we are, where we’re headed, and how to change course.

The discussion will be moderated by Ivor Fung of the UN Office for Disarmament Affairs and include opening remarks by a representative from the Permanent Mission of Japan to the United Nations. A light lunch will be served, courtesy of sponsor Mission of Japan.
