Perspectives on Global Terrorism & Incarceration

American flag as prison barsThis is a panel discussion on U.S. involvement in international terrorism and the incarceration of freedom fighters. The panel will be followed by a question and answer session led by Dr. Acklyn Lynch. The forum will begin with a film excerpt from Eyes of the Rainbow, a film about Assata Shakur by Afro-Cuban filmmaker Gloria Rolando. Then Luci Murphy will perform a song immediately followed by the panel.

Forum Panelists and Discussion Topics:

  • Netfa Freeman, Events Coordinator at the Institute for Policy Studies and organizer in In’tl Committee for the Freedom of the Cuban 5,
  • Salim Adofo, President of National Black United Front, DC Chapter will discuss Mumia Abu-Jamal and Assata Shakur,
  • Shahid Buttar, Executive Director of Bill of Rights Defense Committee will discuss Cointelpro 2.0, the violation of the habeas corpus rights of those persecuted by the U.S. Patriot Act.

Free and open to the public.
