Howard University Screening: Will The Real Terrorist Please Stand Up

April 19, 2012 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

dvd coverThe latest and cutting edge film by Saul Landau exploring in-depth US-Cuba politics through the story of the Cuban 5, will be screened for the Howard University community followed by a compelling panel discussion. Landau is an Emmy-winning, internationally-known scholar, author, commentator, filmmaker, and fellow at the Institute for Policy Studies.

His film, Will The Real Terrorist Please Stand Up documents the history involving the CIA, violence, and the five Cubans serving long sentences in U.S. prisons. The film features an interview with Gerardo Hernandez, one of the Cuban Five who is currently serving life imprisonment in Victorville Maximum Security Prison for “conspiracy to commit espionage.” Landau also interviews Luis Posada Carriles, Orlando Bosch, and others who have acknowledged perpetrating acts of terrorism in Cuba as “freedom fighters.” Delightful surprises are appearances in the film by Fidel Castro and Danny Glover.

Co-sponsors: Institute for Policy Studies, International Committee for the Freedom of the Cuban 5, Organization of Graduate Sociologists, Student Organization for Undergraduate Sociologists, Howard University’s Systems & Computer Science Dept., Network on Appropriate Technology, Cimarrones Student organization, Students Against Mass Incarceration (S.A.M.I.) and DC Metro Coalition to Free the Cuban Five.

These events are free and part of 5 Days for The Cuban 5.
