Join Tiffany Williams, Advocacy Director for the Institute for Policy Studies’ Break the Chain Campaign and Emira Woods, Co-Director of the Institute’s Foreign Policy In Focus project as we present a screening of The Dark Side of Chocolate, a documentary film by Miki Mistrati and U. Roberto Romano about the continued allegations of trafficking of children and child labor in the international cocoa industry. Shot in Mali, the Ivory Coast, Geneva and Vevey, Switzerland, Mistrati and Romano launch a behind-the-scenes investigation into the allegations. After the screening, Tim Newman of the International Labor Rights Forum will join us for a panel discussion about trafficking, the chocolate industry, and the current crisis in the Ivory Coast following the latest presidential elections there. After the panel, guests will have the opportunity to participate in a Valentine’s Day action as part of the ILRF’s Hershey’s chocolate campaign.
