FILM: Growing Change
IPS, the Embassy of Venezuela, and the Howard University community invite you to the first DC screening about one of the most exciting experiments in the world to grow a fair and sustainable food system.
Growing Change follows the filmmaker's journey to understand why current food systems leave hundreds of millions of people in hunger. It's a journey to understand how the world will feed itself in the future in the face of major environmental challenges. At the core of Venezuela’s country-wide process toward “food sovereignty” are principles of social justice and sustainability. It's an inspirational story full of lively characters, thought provoking insights, stunning scenery and ideas to transform the food system. The screening will be followed by a panel of speakers and Q & A.
Panel includes:
- Fred Magdoff, Editor of the Monthly Review Magazine
- William Camacaro, Venezuelan activist, co-founder and coordinator of the Alberto Lovera Bolivarian Circle of New York. He is an artist, radio host, and activist in New York City.
Co-Sponsors: Institute for Policy Studies; Howard University’s Systems & Computer Science Dept., Network on Appropriate Technology, Cimarrones Student organization; A-APRP.
