Author Event: The Unconquered: In Search of the Amazon’s Last Uncontacted Tribes

November 22, 2011 @ 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm

book coverTeaching for Change book store, Amazon Watch, Friends of the Earth US, Greenpeace US, and Institute for Policy Studies invite you for a special book event with Scott Wallace, author of the book, THE UNCONQUERED: In Search of the Amazon’s Last Uncontacted Tribes.

The Unconquered tells the extraordinary tale of a journey into the deepest recesses of the Amazon to track one of the planet’s last uncontacted indigenous tribes. In this gripping first-person account of adventure and survival, the author follows a 34-man team into the Amazon’s uncharted depths, discovering the rainforest’s secrets while moving ever closer to a possible encounter with the mysterious flecheiros – or “People of the Arrow” – a seldom-glimpsed tribe of deft archers known to defend their lands with showers of deadly arrows before melting back into the forest shadows.

The venue is Busboys and Poets on 14th and V street, one of the most exciting establishments in the Washington area. Busboys and Poets is a restaurant that houses the Teaching for Change bookstore and is a gathering place for people who believe that social justice and peace are attainable goals. Admission is free, but space is limited. We encourage you to have dinner with us and change the world. For more information contact Caitlin Doughty at Caitlin@amazonwatch.org.
